We’re putting the finished touches on our cover art, inspired by the golden age of children’s illustration. As a child I was hypnotised by the darkness and complexity of vintage children’s books, which I found starkly in contrast to the cartoonish, colourful style typically seen now.
We wanted art evocative of this period, with an otherworldly strangeness, and nothing narrative or explicative to hold onto. We found Spanish illustrator Ana Sabela, who did the original illustration our artwork is based on.
Here’s an initial sketch, and a couple of influences (Arthur Rackham and Aubrey Beardsley), and our illustrator Ana Sabela with the original ink & watercolour illustration.

Last year we recorded our debut album, Cautionary Tales, working with the inimitable producer James Goldsmith at Massey studios. Since then we’ve been heads-down working on overdubs, mixing, and the multitude of minor business considerations that go into putting out an album.
As of this week we’ve received the final mixes, and are sending them off for mastering! The album is almost finished, and the first singles will be coming out over the next few months.
We’re thrilled to announce we’ll be playing Gathering Shadows at San Fran on 23 January.
Our next gig is coming up, with fellow art-rockers @coldceiling at Meow 17 December.
Earlybird tickets available now from Moshtix!
